If you know me, you know that I have a love for Egypt. I have a love for ancient history and Egypt is, by far, the epitome of all things ancient. As with most of my paintings, they begin with a base, layers and layers of vintage papers. These papers not only add massive texture to the piece, but implant ‘history’, to an otherwise new work of art.
I am a frequent shopper of antique stores and on one of my outings, I came across a massive, vintage book on Egypt. To most, this book would be an awesome display piece on their coffee table but to me…uh, I like to re-purpose things, so I ripped out some pages and embedded them into my new painting…
Egyptian Ruins is available for purchase at my Etsy store.
Title: Love Letters
I’m beginning to think that red is my color of choice! No doubt, my past few paintings have been heavily focused on red. This smaller piece (16″ x 20″) was created using vintage papers and acrylics on gallery canvas. Available for purchase on Etsy.
This is why I love abstract painting! You are free to go wherever your mind takes you. This unfinished painting sat untouched for months but once I got my new art space set up, I added layers upon layers, without a second thought. THAT, is abstract art. Not thinking, but creating.
Available for purchase at my Etsy store.
I’ll be honest, I struggled with this painting for quite some time. It had been sitting, unfinished for a few months when I finally came back to it. I ripped off the original layers only to add more layers and layers….about 5 to be exact! I’m pretty pleased with the outcome. The finished piece combines acrylics, oil pastels and vintage papers.
I love how when you’re creating abstract art your current mood and emotions flow effortlessly onto the canvas. This piece was created by layering acrylics, vintage papers and inks. Visually this abstract may seem chaotic but for me it’s about emotions and letting go. The original painting and digital download is available for purchase at my Etsy Shop .
